Installing an eSIM on Samsung Galaxy

Installing an eSIM takes about two minutes. Pick your phone brand below and follow the three parts: install the profile, set the APN if your plan needs one, and flip the right switches before you fly.

Install

  1. Open Settings. Connect to Wi-Fi and keep the QR code from your order at hand — on a computer, a second phone or a printout.
  2. Choose Connections. It is the first entry in the list, right under your Samsung account.
  3. Choose SIM manager. This is where Samsung keeps every card — physical and eSIM. Older phones call it SIM card manager.
  4. Tap Add eSIM. On older phones this reads Add mobile plan. Your current SIM stays where it is.
  5. Choose Scan QR code. If the phone first searches for carrier plans, wait a moment — the QR code option appears underneath.
  6. Scan the QR code from your order. Only have this one phone? Take a screenshot of the QR code, open it in Gallery and tap the scan icon (Bixby Vision or Google Lens) — the phone offers to add the eSIM.
  7. Tap Add. Downloading the profile usually takes under a minute. Stay on Wi-Fi until it finishes.

APN — Turkey

  1. Choose Access Point Names. This chapter is for Turkey plans only — every other plan sets its APN by itself. The APN value is on your order page, next to the QR code. Path: Settings → Connections → Mobile networks.
  2. Tap Add. If there are SIM tabs at the top, pick the eSIM one first.
  3. Enter the APN and save. Type the APN value from your order into both Name and APN. Leave everything else as it is, then tap ⋮ → Save.
  4. Select the new APN. Pick the access point you just added — the filled dot means it is the one in use.

Settings

  1. Use the eSIM for mobile data. In SIM manager the eSIM switch must be on, and Mobile data must point at the eSIM. Calls and texts can stay on SIM 1.
  2. Turn off Auto data switching. At the bottom of SIM manager. Left on, it lets the phone fall back to your home SIM — and that means roaming charges.
  3. Turn on Data roaming. Settings → Connections → Mobile networks → Data roaming. A travel eSIM only ever works in roaming. Also make sure mobile data is on (Connections → Data usage).

On arrival

  1. After landing: toggle airplane mode. The internet only starts working in the destination country. Once there, turn airplane mode on, wait 10 seconds and turn it off. Activation can take 5–15 minutes.
