Installing an eSIM on Motorola

Installing an eSIM takes about two minutes. Pick your phone brand below and follow the three parts: install the profile, set the APN if your plan needs one, and flip the right switches before you fly.

Install

  1. Open Settings. Connect to Wi-Fi and keep the QR code from your order at hand — on a computer, a second phone or a printout.
  2. Choose Network & internet. It is the first entry in the Settings list.
  3. Choose SIMs. This is where Motorola keeps every card — physical and eSIM. On some models the entry is simply called SIM.
  4. Tap Add eSIM. On some models this option is called Add SIM or Download a SIM. Your current SIM stays where it is.
  5. Choose Scan QR code. If the phone first looks for plans from your carrier, wait a moment — the QR code option appears underneath.
  6. Scan the QR code from your order. Only have this one phone? Take a screenshot of the QR code, open it in Google Photos and tap the Lens icon — the phone will offer to add the eSIM.
  7. Name the plan and tap Add. Name the plan e.g. "Travel" so you can tell it apart from your home SIM. Downloading the profile usually takes a few dozen seconds — keep Wi-Fi on until it finishes.

APN — Turkey

  1. Choose Access point names. This chapter is for Turkey plans only — every other plan sets its APN by itself. The APN value is on your order page, next to the QR code. Path: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → your eSIM. On some models the entry is called Access point settings.
  2. Tap +. The plus at the top right adds a new access point.
  3. Enter the APN and save. Type the APN value from your order into both the Name and APN fields. Leave everything else as it is, then tap ⋮ → Save.
  4. Select the new APN. Select the access point you just added — the dot next to it means it is in use.

Settings

  1. Set the eSIM for mobile data. In the SIMs list, choose the eSIM under Mobile data. Calls and SMS can stay on your home SIM. If the eSIM is inactive, open it and turn on Use SIM.
  2. Turn off automatic data switching. Open your home SIM in the SIMs list. When on, it lets the phone fall back to your home SIM — and that means roaming charges.
  3. Turn on data roaming. Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → your eSIM → Roaming. A travel eSIM works only in roaming. Also make sure Mobile data is switched on.

On arrival

  1. After landing: toggle airplane mode. The internet only starts working in the destination country. Once you arrive, turn airplane mode on, wait 10 seconds and turn it off. Activation can take 5–15 minutes.
